| OUR SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES We are committed to making environmentally conscious decisions and are constantly measuring our performance. Therefore, we have invested in the following key areas:
Energy • CO2 Emissions • Waste • Water
Some of our conservation efforts include: - The recycling of 230 tons of paper products per year
- Water-efficient bathroom features that save 11 million gallons of water per year
- A primary guest-room cleaning product that is non-toxic, biodegradable and oxygen-based
- The installation and recycling of compact fluorescent light bulbs
- Occupancy sensors in meeting rooms, which turn off lights when no one is present
- Guest-room thermostats with occupancy sensors and temperature setback
WE ARE GENERATING POWER WITH LESS WASTE Sitting on the fifth floor of the Hilton New York is a PureCell™ Model 200 commercial fuel-cell power system that will greatly reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, equivalent to the amount reduced by removing 145 cars from the street every year. The fuel cell is one of the cleanest power-generating technologies available today. It releases less pollution and converts more waste heat into useable energy—twice as efficient in providing electricity and hot water. YOU CAN HELP TOO - Reuse towels and bed linens
- Turn off lights that are not in use
- Request no housekeeping, which saves an average of 14.3 gallons of water per day
