Because this estate was initially designed to escape from the Court’s rigid etiquette, the visit is fascinating and very different from the Château de Versailles.

Potager du Roi

Created in 1683 by Jean-Baptiste de la Quintinie, the Potager du Roi was a vegetable garden made to provide fresh produce to the Court. It was also an experimental place to grow rare fruits and vegetables, or to produce them earlier than their usual season. Nowadays, the place is open to the public. It is a stunning vegetable garden, growing over 400 varieties of fruits and vegetables.
