Asheville, North Carolina, is the ultimate playground for adventure seekers and culture lovers alike. From the industrial-chic studios of the River Arts District downtown to the high-altitude vistas along the Blue Ridge Parkway, this destination offers the perfect blend of recreation and relaxation. Settle into a sleek Airstream or cozy cabin at AutoCamp Asheville — located right on the banks of the French Broad River — for an inspired retreat that keeps you close to the action while providing a serene place to unwind. Follow this three-day guide to experience the very best of Asheville’s legendary local spirit and unique mountain charm.

Day 1

Morning

Wake up in your climate-controlled Airstream or tiny-home-style cabin at AutoCamp Asheville and check out your digs for the next few days. Head to the Clubhouse where you’ll find complimentary coffee, tea, and granola, plus local snacks and treats for purchase in the General Store. When you’re ready to go, jump in the car to West Asheville. Visit the legendary Sunny Point Café for their award-winning brunch, or stop at Rowan Coffee for a quieter cup of their fresh-roasted brews. Once caffeinated, drive or walk to the center of the River Arts District (RAD), the creative heartbeat of Asheville.

Afternoon

Pop into the working art studios and galleries along the French Broad River, pausing on Foundy Street for a photo op with the eclectic murals and graffiti art. Before you move on to your next stop, grab a craft draft at Wedge Brewing Company or kick back at Hi-Wire Brewing’s RAD Beer Garden. No trip to Asheville is complete without a stop at the esteemed Biltmore Estate. As the largest privately-owned home in the country, this late-1800’s Vanderbilt property offers a unique blend of grand architecture, captivating cultural exhibits, and stunning gardens designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.

Evening

Dinner tonight is in downtown Asheville. Wander the walkable streets and enjoy a happy hour toast at one of the many cocktail bars, before sidling up to the counter at the MICHELIN-recommended Good Hot Fish for a must-try trout bologna sandwich. After a full day, head back to AutoCamp to get cozy. Make a pitstop at the fully-stocked General Store for late-night snacks or a signature s’mores kit to enjoy at your private campsite. On some evenings, live music and movie nights keep things lively — an easy way to unwind and meet new friends before you turn in for the night.

Day 2

Morning

Rise and shine with a fresh cup of coffee from the Clubhouse (the granola’s on us, too). If the calendar calls for it, roll out your mat for morning yoga with a local instructor — consider it a mellow wake up before a day in the mountains. Replenish your stash of snacks and hiking provisions at the General Store, then set out along the Blue Ridge Parkway from the center of Asheville. Head south for one of the most scenic drives in the country, winding through the Blue Ridge Mountains into the heart of Appalachia.

Afternoon

Stop for a short hike to Craggy Pinnacle, where a quick climb rewards you with panoramic views of the endless ridgelines and gorgeous rhododendrons, depending on the season. Next, venture to Pisgah National Forest for waterfall hikes like Looking Glass Falls or Moore Cove — each offers an easygoing trail and truly spectacular water views. Before heading back towards town, stop at Pisgah Tavern for a post-hike beer, food truck lunch, and live music. If your furry friend is in tow, make a detour to the dog-friendly Wag Bar for their off-leash dog park and local pours.

Evening

Keep tonight easy and relaxed with a sunset stroll by the tranquil river, followed by a DIY grill-kit dinner over your fire pit or get dinner from The Kitchen to enjoy on the deck. The evening doesn't have to end there — the Clubhouse is open until 10 pm, so grab your favorite nightcap or sweet treat, and challenge your friends to board games in the lounge. If the weather allows, hunker down by the communal campfire to share stories and stargaze into the dark night sky above.

Day 3

Morning

Carve out time for one last outdoor excursion. There’s no better way to experience Asheville’s charm than the French Broad River that runs right through the heart of the city, and right past the riverfront shores of AutoCamp Asheville. Choose your own pace — drift downstream on a self-guided tubing or kayaking trip, or join Asheville Adventure Company for a whitewater rafting adventure full of splash and scenery. Feeling extra daring? Head to the mountains for a thrilling aerial ziplining tour. Whatever your speed, these rugged Blue Ridge adventures provide the perfect final chapter to your stay.

Afternoon

After working up an appetite, head into town for brunch. Early Girl Eatery is a crowd favorite for its Southern comfort dishes with a farm-to-table twist (hello, specialty biscuit French toast), or try the patio at All Day Darling for coffee and a hearty, healthy Buddha bowl. Craving something more chill? Enjoy a wellness reset with a view at Drip Nordic Sauna, a community-favorite wood-fired sauna and cold plunge overlooking the river. Cycle between the heat and the cold, breathe in the mountain air, and leave feeling totally refreshed for the journey home.

Until next time!

Whether you spent your time hiking waterfalls, hopping breweries, or just chilling by the fire, you’ll leave Asheville feeling recharged, inspired, and maybe a little reluctant to head home. But don't worry — the Blue Ridge Mountains aren't going anywhere. As you get ready to leave, take a moment to watch the mist rise over the peaks and soak in the crisp mountain air one last time. The magic of the French Broad River will be waiting for when you return.
