Spa Policies

The following information will ensure Members have a comfortable and enjoyable experience when they visit. Please see Devona Spa reception for any new guidelines.

Members, Guests, and Children: Members and Guests must at all times observe the Club Rules, a copy of which is located at Reception. Any dispute or difference with regard to the interpretation of these Rules shall be determined by the Club Manager. The Club may amend these Rules and all tariff charges, at any time and without notice to individual Members, and changes will be displayed on Club notice boards. If any provision in these rules is declared illegal or otherwise unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Any individual aged between 9 to 17 years must also be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 years and older and must be separate to any of the previous child ratios. The adult must be present in the water to supervise. We do not consider a parent or guardian on poolside suitable in the event of an emergency.

Only Members over 17 years of age may introduce Guests. All Guests must be accompanied by the Member introducing them. Both the Member and the Guest must sign in at Reception by completing a Guest Registration Form and pay a Guest fee. A maximum of three Guests per member is permitted at any one time. Members must ensure that their Guests abide by the Rules of the Club at all times and accept responsibility for their Guest’s behavior. No person whose membership of the Club has been terminated or whose application for membership has at any time been refused shall be admitted as a Guest. The Club reserves the right to refuse any person to be admitted as a guest to the Club.

Opening hours: Members can sign in up to 45 minutes prior to closing time. Pool, steam and sauna rooms, and fitness area must be vacated 20 minutes prior to closing to allow time for showering and dressing. The Club may, without penalty, change opening times or close the facilities without notice.

No food or drink, alcoholic or otherwise, may be brought into and consumed within the Club or its grounds.

The Club is a non-smoking environment throughout.

Dress codes: Appropriate sportswear and footwear must be worn at all times. Soiled sport shoes will not be permitted. Soiled sportswear is not to be worn in the bar or restaurant.

Changing rooms: No children are allowed in the changing rooms of the opposite gender once they are 8 years old.

Fitness area: All Members must undergo a health check and basic supervised induction before using the facility. Members and their Guests are advised not to undertake strenuous physical activities. Those who have any reservation as to their physical condition are advised to seek medical advice before starting any exercise program. All Members must ensure that their Guests sign a disclaimer form before using the facility. Members under 16 years may not use the fitness area. Access to the Area may be limited in the event of classes or sessions. Details of these will be posted on Club notice boards.

Swimming pool: Members and Guests must shower before entering the pool. Members and Guests with athlete’s foot, verrucas or other similar communicable maladies may not use the pool. Radios, lilos, and anything which the Club considers detrimental to the use of the pool are not permitted. Conventional swimming costumes only. Pool is not supervised, and use is at members' own risk. Club notice boards will inform when the pool may be reserved. No running, jumping or diving in the pool.

Sauna, steam room, spa: Children under 8 years are not permitted to use these facilities. Children between 8 and 17 years must have adult supervision. Members and Guests must shower after using the Sauna and Steam Room and before using the Swimming Pool. Shaving is not permitted in the Sauna, Steam Room or Spa.

Lockers, property: Lockers are available for storing personal items. Each night, all personal belongings are removed and if not claimed after three months, the Club donates them to local charities. Lost property should be handed to Club Reception.

Use of facilities: The Club may, without penalty, withdraw facilities in connection with cleaning, repair, alteration or maintenance work, or for any other reason Club Management deems necessary, including exhibitions, social events and activities.

Safety and hygiene: Crockery and glasses are not allowed in changing rooms, fitness and aerobics studios, and swimming pool area. No pets are allowed in the Club buildings or grounds, only guide dogs. Club entry is only permitted at the Club Reception entrance, and hotel stairs and elevator from hotel guests. Members and Guests must not interfere with fire exit doors, but make their way to nearest exit in the event of a fire. Cars must not block service roads or emergency exits.

Liability: Any Member or Guest who suffers an accident on the Club premises or in the Club grounds must report the accident and the circumstances under which it occurred to the Club Manager or the Duty manager immediately following the accident. The Club cannot accept any liability for any accident to any Member or Guest that may occur on the premises or within the grounds of the Club, other than liability that may arise from negligence of the Club, its staff or its agents.

Property damage or loss liability is strictly limited to that sustained as a direct result of negligence of the Club, its staff or its agents. The Club reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to refuse to store personal property. Locker storage is at the owner’s risk, and no liability for loss or damage incurred thereto will be accepted by the Club.

Vehicles, bicycles, etc., parked or left in the Club car parks or elsewhere on the premises of the Club and all contents in them or on them, are left at the owner’s risk. The Club accepts no liability for loss or damage in respect thereof.
