007 - Inspiration of Ian Fleming
In the spring of 1958, Ian Fleming arrived on the shores of Mahé.
Drawn by the allure of adventure, sunshine, and solitude, the renowned author sought inspiration for his next James Bond novel, For Your Eyes Only.
Today, echoes of his visit remain at Ocean View Bar at Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa, where captivating photographs offer a glimpse into Fleming’s time on the island—and the timeless charm that continues to inspire.
Cannonball Tree
A Living Legacy at Northolme
As you arrive at Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa, you’ll be greeted by the magnificent Cannonball Tree—an enduring symbol of the resort’s rich heritage.
Planted in the early 20th century as a gift from the Seychelles government to the original owners of the “Northolme”, this remarkable tree has stood witness to decades of island history. Native to the tropical regions of northern South America and related to the Brazil Nut, the Cannonball Tree is known for its striking, fragrant blossoms and large spherical fruits.
Today, it remains a rare and treasured sight in Seychelles, found in only three locations: the Botanical Gardens, the Biodiversity Centre, and right here at Hilton Northolme.
