As summer comes to an end and kids head back to school, work travel starts to pick up again. Turn your next business trip into the ultimate workcation by choosing a hotel that allows you to get the job done and also relax. From invigorating spa treatments to exploring local sites and new cuisine, knowing how to refresh your mind and body is the key to a successful business stay.

Location, location, location

When you’re traveling for work, the right hotel can make or break your stay. On a recent business trip, Instagram user @ZoojiZooji (otherwise known as Mahshid Mazooji) detailed her bad experience at an unnamed hotel chain and shared her relief when she switched to the nearby Desmond Hotel Malvern, a DoubleTree by Hilton, where she settled into a spacious room and relaxed with an iconic DoubleTree cookie. Hilton’s social media team commented on her post, noting that sometimes one night away just isn’t enough and providing her with a voucher for an additional night's stay at a Hilton property of her choosing. Later, while at a jujitsu conference in California, Mazooji shared a video of her stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Torrance – South Bay, expressing her gratitude for a perfect stay — and cookie.

Find time to unwind

Once your meetings are done, be sure to take advantage of everything your hotel and the surrounding area have to offer. Scott Hamilton, General Manager of Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, has some expert tips for turning a business trip into a vacation. His top takeaways? Speak to your front desk Team Member or concierge for ideas on where to go and what to see around town; hit the pool or spa for an added vacation vibe; grab a leisurely dinner at an on-site restaurant or order room service to unwind after a long day. Oh, and if you can, always request a late checkout so you can enjoy some much-needed rest at the end of your business stay.

 Get set up for success

Not all workspaces are created equally. Choose a property that caters to the business traveler so that everything runs smoothly. At Tru by Hilton Manassas, front desk agent Margie Curran knows the value of having a work-friendly environment. To ensure a productive stay, Curran recommends starting your day with complimentary coffee or tea in the lobby and utilizing the on-site print center with designated workspaces. Don’t forget to take some me-time and hit the fitness center and pool or zone out to your favorite tunes by connecting your phone or an app through the in-room TV. No matter your working style, finding ways to personalize your stay on a business trip guarantees success for all.
