Day 2: Montrose and Houston Heights
Day 1: Downtown and the Museum District
Begin your day in Downtown Houston with a stroll through Discovery Green, a vibrant urban park featuring seasonal events like outdoor concerts and art installations, just steps from your base at Hilton Americas-Houston. Explore the underground tunnel system for a weather-smart walk with stops at specialty shops and cafés along the way. Next, take the METRORail to the Museum District for access to the city’s largest concentration of world-class museums. Visit the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston — one of the largest art museums in the United States — or explore the Houston Museum of Natural Science, known for its dinosaur hall and planetarium. After, stroll through Hermann Park, pausing at the tranquil Japanese Garden and the iconic Sam Houston Monument. If time allows, the Houston Zoo is also located in the park.
Regroup back downtown at your hotel with happy hour and panoramic skyline views at R24 Rooftop Lounge, followed by Tex-Mex bites nearby or on site at Pappasito's Cantina.
Day 2: Montrose and Houston Heights
Expand your itinerary with a morning in the eclectic Montrose neighborhood. The area is a hub for culture and art — home to the The Menil Collection, a renowned modern art museum with free admission, and the Rothko Chapel, a tranquil space for reflection and contemplation. Grab lunch at any of the globally inspired restaurants, then browse the independent galleries and vintage shops that line the neighborhood’s leafy streets. In the afternoon, make your way northwest of Downtown to The Heights, a district known for its creative spirit, charming architecture, and walkable blocks. Explore boutiques and street art along 19th Street, popping into a café for a pick-me-up between stops. Evening brings lively dining and music in Midtown or back in Montrose. For a central base with easy access to Montrose and Downtown, C. Baldwin, Curio Collection by Hilton features stylish guest rooms and modern social spaces including the upscale Rosalie Italian eatery and the vibrant Lobby Bar.
Day 3: Uptown and The Galleria
Spend your morning at The Galleria, Texas’s largest shopping mall, where you can browse hundreds of stores or skate on the full-sized indoor ice rink, made famous by Olympian Tara Lipinski. In the afternoon, visit Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, featuring a dramatic multi-story fountain surrounded by live oak trees, then head north to explore Memorial Park’s miles of shaded hiking trails. Plan outdoor time for early or late hours when the weather is typically cooler. Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria is in the heart of the action, offering elegant guest rooms, a rooftop pool, and convenient dining options including a coffee shop, a British pub, and a restaurant serving Texas favorites.
Day 4: Space Center Houston and Clear Lake
Dedicate half a day to exploring the heritage of ‘Space City’ at Space Center Houston, the official visitor center of NASA Johnson Space Center. Go inside the shuttle replica Independence, then head to the Starship Gallery to see the Apollo 17 Command Module and touch a real moon rock. Reserve your NASA Tram Tour tickets in advance to ensure a seamless experience. After your visit, transition to the Clear Lake area for an evening of waterfront dining at the Kemah Boardwalk and a peaceful sunset stroll along the lakeside trails. Hilton Houston NASA Clear Lake provides a relaxing waterfront base next door to the Space Center, with spacious guest rooms, panoramic views of the lake, and amenities like an outdoor pool and on-site dining at LUNA Restaurant & Bar.
